Raccoon Removal and Roof Vent Exclusion – Kitchener

Job Overview

Location: Kitchener, Ontario
Structure: Detached two-story house with double garage
Problem: Nocturnal wildlife activity reported in the attic, consistent with raccoon behaviour
Service: Raccoon removal and roofline exclusion
Visits: 3

Summary

We completed a three-visit raccoon removal and exclusion service at a detached residential property in Kitchener. Activity was traced to a roofline entry point at a soffit-to-roof intersection. Humane one-way eviction was performed, followed by targeted roof vent and plumbing vent protection. A final inspection confirmed successful exclusion with no further wildlife activity.

Background / Property Context

The property is a detached two-story home with multiple roof planes, roof vents, plumbing vents, and a soffit system. Mature trees were visible near the roofline, increasing wildlife access to elevated areas.

Customer Concern

The homeowner reported hearing movement in the attic late at night and observed raccoon activity on the roof. The concern was potential damage and continued access into the attic space.

Inspection & Findings

During the initial exterior roof inspection, our team identified an active entry point at a soffit-to-roof intersection. No interior inspection was required at this stage. Additional vulnerable openings were noted, including several roof vents and plumbing vent penetrations.

Cause Analysis

Raccoons commonly access attics by exploiting roofline transitions and soffit intersections. The presence of multiple roof penetrations and nearby tree cover increased access opportunities. Once established, raccoons repeatedly return unless the entry point is properly addressed and secondary openings are secured.

Treatment / Removal

On the first visit, a humane one-way door was installed at the identified soffit-to-roof intersection to allow raccoons to exit while preventing re-entry. This method enables animals to leave on their own without harm. Technician Andrew conducted the installation and confirmed proper placement and function.

Exclusion & Repairs

After the customer approved the exclusion work, our team returned to complete permanent wildlife-proofing measures. Six roof vents were sealed using galvanized steel vent cages. Two plumbing vents were protected with galvanized steel mesh. The one-way door area was later sealed once exit activity had ceased, and all exclusion points were inspected for secure fastening.

Outcome & Confirmation

On the final visit, the homeowner reported no further wildlife activity. The one-way door had served its purpose and was removed. All exclusion work was inspected, and no new entry attempts were observed. The attic remained quiet, and no additional issues were reported following completion.

Technician Notes

  • Entry point located at soffit-to-roof intersection
  • One-way raccoon door installed and later removed after confirmed vacancy
  • Six roof vents protected with galvanized steel cages
  • Two plumbing vents sealed with galvanized steel mesh
  • Final inspection confirmed effective exclusion and no further activity
