Squirrel Removal from Roof Vent and Soffit – Kitchener

Job Overview

Location: Kitchener, Ontario
Structure: Detached bungalow with attached garage
Problem: Squirrel activity noises reported in attic during morning hours
Service: Squirrel removal and exterior exclusion
Visits: 3

Summary

Pest Control Kitchener was contacted regarding recurring noises in the attic consistent with squirrel activity. Our team completed a multi-visit wildlife removal and exclusion service, addressing multiple roof-level entry points and confirming successful resolution after activity ceased.

Background / Property Context

The property was a detached bungalow with an attached garage and asphalt shingle roofing. Several roof penetrations, including vents and soffit transitions, were present and accessible from adjacent tree cover.

Customer Concern

The homeowner reported hearing sounds in the attic during morning hours. The timing and pattern of the noise raised concerns about squirrels accessing the attic space.

Inspection & Findings

During the initial visit, a full exterior and interior inspection was completed. Activity was traced to a damaged roof vent, which showed signs consistent with wildlife entry. Additional roof vents were identified as vulnerable due to their construction and location.
On a follow-up visit, continued activity led to the discovery of a secondary entry point along the soffit line.

Cause Analysis

Roof vents and soffit intersections are common access points for squirrels, particularly on bungalow-style homes with low rooflines. Nearby tree cover can provide easy roof access. Once an initial entry point is secured, squirrels may attempt to reopen weak areas or exploit secondary gaps if exclusion is incomplete.

Treatment / Removal

A humane, non-lethal removal approach was used throughout. One-way doors were installed over identified entry points to allow squirrels to exit the attic space without re-entry. All work was completed by trained wildlife technicians following standard safety procedures.
Andrew, the assigned technician, confirmed door placement and monitored activity patterns between visits.

Exclusion & Repairs

Galvanized steel vent cages were installed over four roof vents to prevent future access. After a secondary entry point was identified, an additional one-way door was installed at the soffit area.
During the final visit, both one-way doors were removed after confirming no further activity. All exclusion areas were reinspected and secured with wildlife-resistant materials.

Outcome & Confirmation

Following the third visit, the homeowner reported no further attic noises. Final inspection confirmed that entry points were sealed, one-way doors removed, and exclusion remained intact. No additional wildlife activity was observed, and the service was completed successfully.

Technician Notes

  • Initial entry confirmed at roof vent
  • Secondary soffit entry identified on follow-up
  • Multiple roof vents reinforced with steel screening
  • Final inspection confirmed successful exclusion and resolution
